Have you ever seen an apple about to fall from a tree?
Have you ever gone on a roller coster and went on the big hill gaining speed?
Well, those two examples are examples of Gravitational Potential Energy and Kenetic Energy.
Gravitational Potential Energy (GPE): Energy that is stored in the gravitational potential energy due to gravity.
If you look around you there are lots of GPE, like when you play catch with dad, and you your about to trow the ball right before you throw it, it has the potential to fall. And if you've ever seen a waterfall and its catching speed and as it's on the tip of the top before it falls. Also when your leaning back on the kitchen chair and you fall off. Those three examples are all examples of GPE.
"ahhh!!!" thats usally the sound you hear at a amusment park on the biggest roller coaster there, falling down the biggest hill. But do we really look beyond those little details? Kenetic Energy (KE): The energy possesed by a body because of its motion. if the kenetic energy is the motion on the rollercoster then the kenetic energy is when its going up the hill gaining speed. and back to the examples i gave before, like the ball after it is thrown is it gaining speed? is it moving? if you answerd yes then your right. and then the waterfall, is it gaining speed? is the water moving? ha ha yes it is, so then its kenetic energy. :) Now you can see that theres a lot more to life then what you can see.
